LEL KIDZ ENGAGE NEWSLETTER, VOL 4

June 19, 2020 | Community, Engage Newsletter, Events, News

FEATURED FRIENDS ~ Meet Alex! Alex is 6 years old and was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3. In Alex’s toddler years he had many behaviors and developmental delays. The early toddler years were most difficult for his family because they had no prior experience with Autism. “We did not know how to help calm him, or help his environment be less overwhelming to him. Alex did not like things changing at all unless it was on his terms, and he would move end tables and lamps, pictures throughout the house to random areas,” says his mom. Alex’s family is happy to report that they are in a much better place today. With the help of LEL Services, and full time ABA therapy Alex is now thriving. He is no longer doing self-injurious behaviors, he no longer moves things about the house, and is doing very well with change. He loves swimming, playing with MagnaTiles, Books, and going on Vacations. He frequently makes his own books, and pretends he is his “teacher” ABA Therapist, as she had become one of his Best Friends. This summer at his neighborhood pool, he even met his first friend! When we ask what he wants to be when he grows-up he replied “A good person!” Which fills all of our hearts with JOY. We are so proud of YOU, Alex!
